It’s Sloth Day

I didn’t know there was an official holiday celebrating the existence and probably the very way of life of … SLOTHS.

They are obviously very popular animals, and their appeal is obvious: They don’t do much, they just hang around, they look friendly and over-content most of the time. They carry their young ones around on their belly. Their world-view must seem upside-down to us but still, they are just alright. They don’t do much. Makes you wonder how they come by their young ones at all.

All very appealing to most of us.

Then I made a t-shirt design to celebrate this very special holiday. I had just discovered AI Image Generation and very image was just so so cute!

There were the obligatory glitches of course: Too many arms, hands and legs. Branches that vanish and reappear. Gibberish instead of the slogan I entered. I soon switched to doing the text in Photoshop, and all the limb corrections, too. I still love the optics though: The jungle, trees, twigs and leaves seem from Disney’s Jungle Book Movie. Or vintage children’s books. Or mid-20th-century illustration. I love it …
