The Toad wasn\u2019t a real toad. But it didn\u2019t need to be. It was the kind of crea\u00adture that lurked in the damp cor\u00adners of child\u00adhood night\u00admares, in the half-remem\u00adbered warn\u00adings of old sto\u00adries\u2014Don\u2019t wan\u00adder too far, don\u2019t trust the still\u00adness, don\u2019t look too long.<\/em> Its bulk filled the arch\u00adway like a liv\u00ading gate, moss cling\u00ading to its met\u00adal-band\u00aded limbs as if the jun\u00adgle itself had claimed it. At this year\u2019s book fair, let the vibrant posters draw you in, but stay for the time\u00adless mag\u00adic of lit\u00ader\u00ada\u00adture: the kind that doesn\u2019t need a prompt, just a read\u00ader. Because while AI can design a cov\u00ader, only a book can change a mind.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n
